Job Title: Program Director
Location: Greater Nashville area, working remotely
Reports to: Acting Executive Director/ Board President
FLSA Status: Exempt - Salary, Full Time (40 hours/week)
Girls on the Run of Middle Tennessee is a local nonprofit organization that operates in agreement with Girls on the Run International (GOTRI) and is dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams. We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running. Our program currently serves Davidson, Williamson, Sumner, Rutherford and Montgomery counties. We serve about 250 girls per year, and we strive to increase this number annually.Girls on the Run ("GOTR") believes that all girls and communities should have access to our programs. Position Profile
Consistent with the mission of Girls on the Run, the Program Director of GOTR Middle Tennessee is responsible for the overall management of the GOTR programming and 5Ks. The Program Director is responsible for managing all of the Girls on the Run programs (Girls on the Run, Heart and Sole and Camp GOTR) and volunteers. Some of the key responsibilities falling within these areas include:Program Outreach and Site Management

  • Develop and execute the strategic program plan and achieve program goals with respect to number of girls, number of sites and demographic objectives.
  • Market Girls on the Run program to potential new sites.
  • Develop relationships with community leaders, schools and other groups to maximize Girls on the Run success.
  • Coordinate all new and existing sites.
  • Enforce all current site policies and procedures and generate innovation and improvement as needed.Coach Management and Training
    • Ensure all program sites are staffed with qualified volunteer coaches.
    • Manage all aspects of coach training, including Girls on the Run training, CPR & First Aid, and background checks.
    • Work with sites to develop effective coach recruitment and retention strategies.
    • Oversee and support the needs of all coach volunteers.
    • Enforce all current coaching policies and procedures and generate continuous improvement.Curriculum/Equipment Management
      • Purchase and distribute all curriculum materials including the following: coach boxes, coach manuals and program equipment.
      • Manage inventory and distribution of coach and program curriculum, materials and supplies.5K Planning and Execution
        • Collaborate with 5K and Programming Committee to plan the spring and fall 5Ks.
        • Execute 5K project plan.
        • Ensure the 5K is a great experience for GOTR girls, coaches, and the local community.Budget and Administrative
          • Manage program budget.
          • Set up and manage program events, site and coach recruitment pages on our website.
          • Ensure the timely and accurate collection of data; oversee the information management of rosters, girls, numbers and program revenue.
          • Oversee and manage all participant financial assistance policies and procedure.Organizational Support
            • Exhibiting GOTR core values and working to achieve the GOTR mission.
            • Attend and special events for the organization and/or community events to help raise awareness of organization.
            • Attend and work program events including site visits, info meetings, coach training and the Girls on the Run 5K.
            • Includes some evenings and weekends.
            • Develop positive relationships with volunteers, board members, community members, school personnel and staff.Desired Qualifications
              • Education or work experience in youth development and/or nonprofits.
              • Experience in volunteer management.
              • Passion for the Girls on the Run mission-centric work and alignment with our core values.
              • Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to build meaningful relationships with board, community partners, and donors.
              • Desire to advance the complex work of inclusion, diversity, equity, and access.
              • A willingness to take a hands-on role with regards to program execution and administrative needs.
              • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and make effective decisions.
              • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
              • Strong communication skills to communicate effectively with various audiences.
              • Proficient in Microsoft office suite and adept at learning new systems.
              • Regular access to a reliable vehicle and ability to travel locally.
              • Available between 2 - 5 p.m. CST most weekdays during the school year and some weekends.Work EnvironmentThis position is based in the Middle Tennessee area. The position is remote; however, the candidate must be locally based to provide in-person support to our community.
                • Frequent local travel within Davidson, Williamson, Sumner, Rutherford and Montgomery counties.
                • Ongoing in-person and virtual interactions in community.
                • Frequent interaction with external stakeholders.
                • High speed internet access required to access systems.
