**Surgical Nurse Job Description**

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Nurse to join our team at Williamson Health, a leading healthcare system in Franklin, Tennessee. As a Surgical Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment.

**Job Responsibilities:**

* Plan, implement, and evaluate surgical patient care in a timely and accurate manner
* Perform comprehensive assessments on patients, develop age-specific plans of care, and communicate with the healthcare team
* Anticipate and provide equipment and supplies in a timely manner, maintaining a sterile field and adhering to aseptic practice
* Monitor and control the OR Suite environment, maintain traffic patterns, and adhere to OR sanitation policies
* Handle, transport, store, prepare, and administer medications and solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures
* Facilitate staff development, assist with the orientation and training of new personnel, and participate in the development of educational programs for coworkers

**Requirements:**

* Licensed by the State of Tennessee
* Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university
* Previous surgery experience
* BLS certification within 90 days of hire
* Ability to work well under pressure, function independently, and be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to various settings

**Work Environment:**

* Surgical unit with patient population ranging from less than one year of age to ninety-nine plus years of age
* Prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours a day
* Constantly required to push/pull objects up to 175 lbs and lift and turn patients with assistance up to 250 lbs

**Physical Effort:**

* Requires the ability to communicate in English orally and in writing
* Requires prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours a day
