The hospitalists are responsible for coordinating care for patients at discharge, and facilitating hand-offs to outpatient physicians. Basic administrative duties may be required from time to time. Participation in hospital committees and leadership is encouraged.POSITION REQUIREMENTSFormal Education / Training: Current licensure by the State of Tennessee as a medical doctor or osteopathic physician. Current DEA number. Able to demonstrate leadership, managerial ability, good interpersonal interactions, and apply sound administrative principles. Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. The practitioner must be board certified within 5 years of completion of residency or fellowship training. Current ACLS certification.Equipment and Skills Training: Communicate effectively with families, patients, and fellow providers Provide top-quality, compassionate, person-centered care Function dependently and independently Partner with all members of the care team Be flexible in applying medical knowledge to a variety of situations. Work well under pressure Able to communicate in English verbally and legibly.Physical Effort: Able to stand/sit/work for up to twelve hours a day. Able to lift/move up to 25 lbs.PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Provides information, education, and support to patient and the patients family members. Includes the patient and their family in care planning. Provides information, education, and support to nurses and other staff. Includes nurses and other staff in care planning. Communicates and works cooperatively with peers, consultants, and ER staff. Facilitates appropriate and timely admission, discharge, and transfer of patients. Maintains knowledge and proficiency in medical practices through continuing education, hospital conferences, home study, and use of resources and consultants. Participates effectively in multidisciplinary rounds by communicating diagnosis, stating clear goals, working cooperatively, being open to feedback, and being efficient. Participates in building positive culture through honest, constructive, friendly, and team-minded interactions. Chart documentation is accurate, clear, concise, and conforms to the programs adopted system of note-writing. Sign-out communications and hand-offs are up-to-date, clear, concise, and appropriately targeted. Presents professionally, including appearance and demeanor.
