POSITION SUMMARY To provide high quality mammography procedures to
our patients and physicians in a respectful and efficient manner
while providing those services in a safe and clean environment.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Formal Education / Training: Earned a
Radiologic Technology diploma or degree from a college or
university. Must be in compliance with CE Requirements. Must be
registry eligible or Registered in Mammography to perform studies
independently. Must be willing to cross train in diagnostic
radiology and bone density. BLS is required within 90 days of hire.
Workplace Experience: Preference of at least one year work
experience after graduation and accreditation; however, willing to
train. Equipment and Skills Training: Will train on specific
equipment and processes utilized at Williamson Medical Center.
Physical Environment: Radiation safety and universal precautions
practiced in a multi modality imaging department. Physical Effort:
Possesses the ability to perform multifunctional tasks to include:
physically manipulate and operate equipment, assist in the movement
of patients from wheelchairs to biopsy chair; bend, twist, stoop;
lift 20 pounds; communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing;
make appropriate judgment decisions in urgent or emergency
situations; and demonstrate emotional stability and psychological
health in day to day interaction with fellow employees, patients,
their families, and physicians. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Checks
patient identification before proceeding with diagnostic study.
Questions female patients (ages 12-50) years regarding the
possibility of pregnancy and properly documents information in
record. Possesses the ability to communicate with mammography
patients in a positive manner to make them as comfortable as
possible with the exam. Checks physician order to ensure accuracy
of request before proceeding with any diagnostic procedure.
Understands FDA regulations regarding mammography and abides by
those regulations. Strives to maintain the dignity of each patient
by ensuring the patient is properly covered when appropriate. Seeks
opportunities to assist in other areas during downtime periods and
always makes good use of time. Working environment is clean,
organized, well stocked, and free of clutter. Performs high quality
studies consistently and accepts constructive criticism for image
quality issues if indicated. Attendance: Maintains minimal
unscheduled absences/ within Williamson Health attendance policy.
Arrives to work promptly ready to begin work assignment. Volunteers
for overtime and fill-in when needed. Implements new departmental
procedures readily and without delay.
