Registered Nurse (RN) | Medical-Surgical Location: Smyrna, TN Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,002 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 1/12/2026 About the Position Job Title: Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med-Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS required, ACLS optional Must-Have: 1 year of Med-Surg experience Description: Join a busy and dedicated medical-surgical unit. This unit has 54 beds with a focus on orthopedic and spine patients. The patient ratio is 1:5-6 for RNs and 1:12-15 for patient care technicians. RN/LPN teams will typically manage 10 patients together. Each hall has 2-3 RNs, 1 LPN, and 1-2 patient care technicians as staffing allows. Unit secretaries are available until 8 PM on weekdays, along with techs and externs. Equipment includes Alaris pumps, remote telemetry, continuous pulse oximetry, specialty beds, and wound vacs. The documentation system used is Meditech. Staff are required to work at least one weekend within a 4-week period. Floating may occur within the unit's discretion. The patient population includes general medical-surgical patients, orthopedic and spine patients, trauma patients, and psych medical hold patients. Required skills include punctuality, time management, organization, teamwork, a positive attitude, effective communication, and the ability to learn quickly. Advanced skills needed are thorough assessment capabilities, prioritization, critical thinking, and time management. Procedures performed on the unit include general medical and surgical procedures. This includes post-catheterizations without intervention, laparoscopic appendectomies, thoracentesis, and special procedures performed by interventional radiology. A supportive team culture exists, with many staff members having years of experience. Flexible scheduling and consistent communication with department leadership are key aspects of the role.
