Job Description:
JOB TITLE: Parts Supervisor Job Purpose: This position is
responsible maintaining the vehicle parts and lubrication inventory
and providing technical assistance and lead direction to a group of
assigned transit parts room clerks. Work includes coordinating work
assignments; monitoring workflows and ensuring timely parts room
operations; maintaining quality standards, ensuring adherence to
schedules and operating requirements. Developing standard part kits
for rolling stock; forecasting parts requirements and working
closely with buyers and the procurement department in the
development of parts purchasing contracts, ensuring compliance with
federal requirements, local operating polices and standards. Work
requires incumbents to learn and transfer new and expanded
knowledge and skills associated with the operation of parts
inventory systems. Work also requires ensuring compliance with
safety regulations and procedures. Work is performed under the
general supervision of the Parts Manager and Director of
Maintenance. The job profile is not designed to cover or contain a

with or without notice. Job Functions: •Coordinate the work of and
provide technical assistance to the Parts Manager •Coordinate the
work of and provide technical assistance to parts clerks
maintaining parts inventories and receiving and issuing parts and
supplies. •Reviewing purchase requests for all garage locations.
•Maintains an accurate and effective parts inventory control system
that includes a perpetual and/or annual physical inventory
•Evaluating inventory records while creating a strategy to maintain
an appropriate inventory level. •Analyzing purchasing records to
allow for most economical (best value) purchasing methods.
•Incorporate premade parts kits into current inventory levels.
•Verifying vendor compliance with parts purchased. •Assist with the
development of Parts Bid specifications. •Assist in evaluation of
vendor bids to make recommendations on vendor selection. •Assist in
evaluating bus parts clerks. •Collaborate with Parts Manager and
recommend disciplinary actions up to and including termination of
bus • Maintaining records and preparing required reports relevant
to the operations of all parts departments. • Evaluation of all
parts and materials used to maintain vehicles. • Completing parts
related warranty claims. • Creates annual Parts Department goals
and budget, in alignment with the organization’s financial and
operational objectives. • Assigns work in accordance with work
operating requirements, workload demands and safety procedures;
control and monitor workflow. • Assist with responses to questions
and provide advice on equipment components, parts and inventory
requirements; oversee inventory maintenance operations. • Keep
current with the latest service bulletins, advisories and policies
on inventory and processes. • Provide feedback to staff on employee
and teamwork performance as well as any behavioral and attendance
issues. • Provide feedback to staff on safety concerns, process
control and situations which affect productivity and workflow. •
Monitor work assignments to ensure work has been completed in a
quality manner and inventory systems are properly maintained;
ensure warehouse equipment is in safe and proper working order. •
Train new and current personnel in required aspects of parts room
operations and base and warehouse safety procedures. • Advise parts
clerks when their work is deficient or in violation of established
regulations and procedures; notify and recommend corrective actions
when required. Create SOP’s and communicate expectations clearly. •
Maintain required manual records and automated vehicle maintenance
systems. • Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge/Skills •
Knowledge of workload planning and scheduling. • Knowledge of
applicable service standards, operating policies, procedures and
regulations. • Knowledge of parts room operations and inventories
that support a large fleet of automotive and Heavy-duty Buses as
well as large-scale transit repair facilities. • Knowledge of the
parts that comprise gasoline and diesel-powered engines as well as
drive trains, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, suspension and
related system, Including Hybrid and Battery propulsion systems. •
Knowledge of inventory control and warehousing methods and
practices. • Knowledge and understanding of parts catalogs and
technical specifications for automotive, coach and heavy-duty bus
as well as building maintenance parts and supplies. • Communication

skills • Computer skills required to enter and extract information
from vehicle maintenance systems and related software applications.
Experience with Crystal reports are a plus. • Experience using Ron
Turely and Associates (RTA) software as it relates to vehicle
maintenance. • Skill in planning, assigning, balancing and checking
work. • Skill in handling multiple competing priorities. • Skill in
working with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds. •
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working
relationships. • Skill in training and providing technical
assistance. • Skill in problem solving. • Must have knowledge of
occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade. •
Knowledge of workload planning and scheduling. • Knowledge of

Ability to work varying shifts on weekdays, nights, weekends, and
holidays as needed. • Ability to work independently and as a team

diverse backgrounds. • Skill in using (RTA) and Microsoft software
programs in day-to-day operations. Requirements • Five (5) years of
experience in a Supervisory Role • Three (3) years of experience in
working in a transit facility • Experience in purchasing,
preferably at a public transit agency • Any combination of
experience/education/training that provides the required knowledge,
skills and abilities to perform the work. • Educational
Requirement; Associates Degree preferred. • Possess a valid
Driver’s License • Willingness and availability to work different
shifts on weekdays, nights, weekends and holidays as needed Minimum
Qualifications: • Five (5) years of experience in a Supervisory
Role • Three (3) years of experience in working in a transit
facility • Experience in purchasing, preferably at a public transit
agency Education • Any combination of experience/education/training
that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to
perform the work. • Associate's degree preferred. Additional
Requirements: • Possess a valid Driver’s License • Willingness and
availability to work different shifts on weekdays, nights, weekends
