We are looking for a PQA Warranty Engineer (ECL 4) to join our team
in Smyrna, TN.
Job Summary
Leads engineering activities for the development, production, and
quality of new and current manufactured vehicles within assigned
area at NNA manufacturing plants. Communicates with suppliers,
manufacturing plants, and other Nissan affiliates to propose and
implement countermeasures for quality, manufacturing, and field
concerns within assigned area. Assists manufacturing plants and
suppliers in identifying cost saving methods while improving
quality.
Contributes to building brand value and achieving enduring
profitable growth.
Job Functions
* Leads or provides engineering support for trial builds for new
models; develops trial schedules, material and personnel
requirements to support trials; writes various reports as needed in
completing trials in the most efficient manner.
* Evaluates design notes and cost studies to identify assembly
feasibility and to provide processing, tooling impact, and layout
changes including lead time, costs, and method improvements;
reviews tool line-up or phase testing of new materials to confirm
process capability; assists purchasing in determining purchase
requirements for tooling, prototype, or trial parts and
equipment.
* Confirms part or system design intent complies with manufacturing
and quality requirements; develops and approves designs for
tooling, checking gauges, and process equipment for new models.
* Develops new and revised process sheets and inspection standards
based on design note information; develops DCC and process control
requirements, recommends and implements countermeasures to keep
process within approved specifications.
* Audits supplier quality and production capability; provides
feedback and cost, quality, and production improvement
recommendations to suppliers; acts as key Nissan representative to
conduct supplier quality and system surveys; develops inspection
standards for new parts; monitors supplier progress toward tool
completion, off tool parts, and new material development to ensure
parts meet Nissan quality standards.
* Determines testing required, analyzes results, evaluates
alternatives and recommends action pertaining to vehicle subsystem
concerns in assigned areas; leads joint check activities between
plants and reports results and countermeasures.
* Analyzes and distributes field information to facilitate tracking
warranty and customer satisfaction concerns; ensures supplier
quality assurance through warranty reduction activities; conducts
warranty part investigation, warranty cost recovery, warranty part
countermeasures, and customer satisfaction countermeasures.
* Represents assigned areas for all vehicle trial activities;
coordinates with manufacturing plants to ensure manufacturing
workability and quality of new model designs and new production
tooling; works with maintenance, design, and quality personnel to
facilitate design changes and process tooling modification.
* As necessary, performs other related duties of which the above
are representative.
Minimum Qualifications
Job Knowledge and Skill:
Must meet requirements for MR3 level or possess equivalent
experience. High level of knowledge in process design and floor
layout, value analysis, and vehicle structure. Must be able to
perform and lead cross discipline investigations of vehicle quality
concerns. Working knowledge of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety
Standards, and Nissan Important A or B system. Expert ability to
analyze and interpret dimensional layout data. Ability to propose
and implement effective countermeasures for dimensional accuracy
improvements and quality concerns.
Experience:
Five to seven years of related experience at a professional
level.
Education:
A four-year degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology or
Engineering Technology.
Computer Skills:
Thorough computer knowledge such as word processor, spreadsheet,
other PC applications, or mainframe applications to resolve complex
problems in day to day situations.
Physical Requirements
Travel:
Occasional day or overnight travel, including international travel.
Extended travel may be required if assigned to new programs.
