Motlow State is the fastest growing college in Tennessee. We are

High school diploma or equivalent required. General experience in a
related building, grounds or facility maintenance environment.
Experience in building and plant maintenance work environment
involving knowledge of any of the following carpentry, masonry,
painting, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and low-voltage control
Employee in this position performs work in a variety of maintenance
tasks including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical,
pneumatics, DDC, grounds, and related work as required.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Report to and follow oral and written instructions from the
Maintenance and Grounds Supervisor.
Be on call on an emergency basis utilizing electronic pager and/or
Assist with training of Facilities Services department team
Be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship
with other employees.
Work with and advise the Maintenance Supervisor about work of the
custodial staff, whether in-house or outsourced personnel.
Be able to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and
Look for ways and makes suggestions to improve the Facilities
Services department, including suggestions on ways to cut costs and
quantity of repairs.
Assist other departments in planning for future growth.
Keep up to date on occupational safety & health regulations,

Help set up and follow equipment PM schedules.
Be capable of general electrical repairs. Items this could include
install, maintain, or repair electrical outlets, lighting fixtures
& ballasts, motion sensors, timers, motor controls, electric
motors, air compressors, and a variety of other electrical
Be capable of general repairs of control systems. Items this could
include install, maintain, or repair pneumatic and/or DDC control
systems in the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor.
Be capable of general plumbing repairs. Items this could include
install or repair all types of plumbing fixtures, water lines,
water heaters, etc.
Be capable of general piping repairs. Items this could include
install and maintain natural gas, water, and compressed air piping
in accordance with current safety standards.
Be able to operate MSCC heating and cooling equipment. Be able to
maintain non-refrigerant related aspects of the equipment.
Repair racks and supports, ladders, metal furniture, sports
equipment, and other metal-based items using various types of
welding machines, brazing torches, and cutting torches.
Perform a variety of carpentry and painting tasks in the
maintenance and construction campus facilities.
Assemble and move various types of furniture.
Be knowledgeable of tools and equipment used to perform maintenance
and custodial tasks.
Help maintain MSCC custodial standards and procedures.
Assist in maintenance and be able to operate all college owned
vehicles, equipment and grounds maintenance equipment.
Deliver and pick up supplies when needed.
Be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds and carrying that load
Assist with set-ups for facility use requests and special
Assist other campuses when directed for special events or personnel
Responsible for assigned campus s grounds maintenance. To include
mowing, weed eating, edging, pruning watering, applying weed
Assist in custodial maintenance as directed.

Check e-mail regularly during the day for Work Orders as
Advise MSCC Maintenance Supervisor and/or Director of Facilities
