investment plans to build Gigafactories in the US and having signed
high volume supply contracts with OE customers. To support these
exciting growth plans we are looking for an experienced and
innovative Direct Materials/Parts Buyer to join the US Purchasing
team to drive forward localized sourcing of the key materials and
components required for these plants Outline and
Responsibilities:
- Gather Market Intelligence, identify major categories, analyze
current spend & develop an optimal Direct Strategy Plan
- Technical understanding for development of supply roadmap
identifying key commodities within NA region (e.g. cathode, anode,
separator, foils and electrolyte) and supply risk factors (e.g.
REACH, risk assessment capacity, etc.)
- Sourcing and purchasing of materials, in line with specified
cost, quality, and delivery targets
- Build and maintain strong connections with Global Purchasing to
identify strategies and to develop suppliers both globally and
locally
- Lead strategic proactive tenders (RFI/RFQ), negotiations,
supplier selections for approved & new Direct suppliers.
- Support Purchase Manager on commercial contracting specifically
focused on localization with UK and EU suppliers for new sourcing
activities.
- Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs
where possible
- Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency,
add value, aid business performance, and work towards a strategy of
continuous improvement.
- Assess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews
driving improvement activities.
- When required support Purchase Manager related to CAPEX and
construction tenders
- Support supply chain team to ensure UK maximize supply
logistics improvements and avoid production delays Background and
Experience Required:
- Proven purchasing experience, preferably within a lithium-ion
battery manufacturing environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a vision for success, the
ability to take responsibility and strong negotiation
experience.
- Excellent communication skills are crucial to this role, as is
the ability to build relationships with key internal and external
stakeholders.
- Effective analytical skills to evaluate trends and deliver
proactive solutions
- Commercially and operationally astute who is financially
aware.
- A strong understanding of purchasing best practice within the
supply chain with Proven track record of achieving targets in a
competitive fast paced industry.
- Strong leader to influence, be able to work to tight deadlines,
have a good sense of priority and to have previous negotiation
experience.
- You should possess strong industrial awareness by investigating
new supply markets to assess existing and new supplier capabilities
to further strength cost reductions and supply
rationalization.
- You must hold a full driving license. Additional:
- Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply
(CIPS) is essential to this role.
- Some degree of travel may be required.
- Degree qualification preferred. MBA is desirable. Equal
